FROSTBURG — At least three people were hurt when a porch collapsed at a Frostburg residence on Saturday, including one in serious condition. The roof of the porch was about 15 feet off the ground.

The incident, reported at 144 Wood St. around 7 p.m., drew the response of Frostburg firefighters and two units from Frostburg Area Ambulance Service. Other medic units from around the area were dispatched to the scene by the Allegany County 911 Center. Several others were treated on scene for minor injuries.

Law enforcement from Frostburg City, Frostburg State University, MD State Police and Allegany County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched due to the large number of students at the scene.

Frostburg City Police Chief Royce Douty describes a chaotic scene when the collapse occurred. Frostburg Police were on the scene of a call concerning a loud party across the street. The party is said to have numbered between 200-250 people.

The injured were being transported to Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.
