The Frostburg and Grantsville fire departments played host to over a hundred travelers who were stopped in that town yesterday because U.S. Route 40 was blocked at Long Stretch.
The Frostburg Fire Hall was made comfortable for about 75 persons as the firemen treated them to food, color television, pool games and cards.

The Allegany County Chapter of the American Red Cross delivered 10 cots with sheets and blankets for their nights sojourn.
The motorists were from eight states according to William Davis, Frostburg’s Police & Fire Commissioner. He had 25 firemen on duty all day yesterday helping the guests and others remained on call during the night. Some of the stranded travelers were winter sports enthusiasts heading for Garrett County ski slopes and snowmobile tracks.

In fact the first two to be directed there by State Police and Frostburg City Police were Barbara Correo of Elkridge and Colleen Bannon of Columbia, who were enroute to the Wisp at McHenry for skiing. Behind them are Commissioner Davis and FFD member Harry Foor. In Grantsville, approximately 25 persons were in the fire hall there. A spokesman said firemen were attempting to have them placed in homes there for the night.
