INN FIRE CONTAINED
Quick action by the Frostburg Volunteer Fire department personnel saved the “Billy Goat Inn” from destruction today. The in is located on Big Savage Mountain, about two miles west of Frostburg. The first floor tavern was burned but booster tanks on trucks saved the second floor. Clarysville and Shaft volunteers were called for assistance. The origin of the fire was not immediately determined. The second floor was vacant.

Frostburg fireman Enoch “Junie” Price is shown hosing down the timbers in the first floor tavern section.
