Yesterday evening, FFD members participated in an annual SCBA refresher.
Members practiced skills and techniques that could directly affect their chances of survival in fires, along with MAYDAY procedures, and assisting downed firefighters.
The FFD continues to train on many facets related to serving the city of Frostburg and surrounding communities.

SEASON’S WORST STORM BLASTS TRI-STATE AREA

Stranded Travelers Aided By Firemen
The Frostburg and Grantsville fire departments played host to over a hundred travelers who were stopped in that town yesterday because U.S. Route 40 was blocked at Long Stretch.

The Frostburg Fire Hall was made comfortable for about 75 persons as the firemen treated them to food, color television, pool games and cards.

The Allegany County Chapter of the American Red Cross delivered 10 cots with sheets and blankets for their nights sojourn.

The motorists were from eight states according to William Davis, Frostburg’s Police & Fire Commissioner. He had 25 firemen on duty all day yesterday helping the
