Length of Service Anniversary

Please help us congratulate Sam McCulloh on his "Length of Service" anniversary.

Sam joined this great organization as a 3rd generation member on this date in 1961 and throughout the years, provided dedicated service and leadership as both a Line and Administrative officer and roles in fire prevention and numerous years as the crab feast chairman. You'll still see Sam marching in every parade proudly leading the procession while carrying the Department banner!

Over the years..., Sam has performed tens of thousands of man hours of training and service in an effort to continue the rich traditions of the FFD.

On behalf of the entire Department and the citizens of Frostburg and surrounding areas, THANK YOU Sam and happy 54th anniversary!!

ON THIS DAY IN FROSTBURG HISTORY

Reprinted from the August 17, 1969 Cumberland Evening Times

Major fire affects four businesses in Frostburg. Music shop gutted as others filled with smoke.

A fire spread quickly through two East Main Street buildings in Frostburg last night, destroying a business establishment and many of the 21 apartments, which lined the top floors of the three-story buildings. Destroyed was Vizza Music City along with its merchandise of musical instruments and amplifiers. Family Billiards, adjacent to the music store and in the same building was heavily damaged by smoke.

Stores in the second building, the newly remodeled Diamond Restaurant and the Mary Carol Shop, also suffered only smoke damage. Flames were confined to the music store and the apartments
