Frostburg Elks contribute to the Frostburg Fire Department aerial ladder truck fund

Officers of the Frostburg Elks Lodge #470 recently presented a check for $6,000 to the Frostburg Fire Department, No. 1 (FFD) to help offset the cost of a new ladder truck to replace their existing nearly 20-year old unit.

The funding came from a combination of two (2) Elks National Foundation (ENF) Community Investment Program grants. According to Lodge Grant Chair Bill DeVore, “This makes a total of $24,500 that the local Elks have been able to provide to the community for various local projects over the past three years through the Elks National Foundation.”

The ENF grant program is funded largely through membership donations from every lodge in the country. This year the Foundation allocated $13.5 million to fund grants to local lodges to support projects in their communities.

The cost of a replacement ladder truck is >$1.85M and when ordered this summer, will take more than two years to be built, delivered and placed in service.  FFD’s ladder truck not only protects the City of Frostburg and all of the surrounding communities but also the 6,000 faculty, staff and students who work at and attend Frostburg State University (FSU).

“We are extremely grateful to the officers and members of Frostburg Elks Lodge #470 and to the ENF for their continued support.” said FFD President Todd Logsdon.
