On July 25, 2024, Frostburg Fire Department (FFD) Life Member, William R. (Buzz) Davis assumed command of the department when President Todd W. Logsdon appointed him to the position of Fire Chief.
Chief Davis, following in his Father’s footsteps, joined the FFD as a second-generation member on June 25, 1990. Throughout the years, he has held numerous ranks, including Captain, Assistant Fire Chief, Secretary, and Trustee. Along with his nearly 35 years of FFD service, Buzz was employed by the Cumberland Fire Department (CDF) and retired in 2021. He served 18 of his 26 years as a Captain. He was a Maryland Fire Rescue Institute (MFRI) Fire Instructor from 1997-2021 and is currently a Safety Officer with the Allegany County Department of Emergency
