Length of Service Anniversary

Please help us congratulate Jim Winfield on his "Length of Service" anniversary. Jim joined this great organization on November 10, 1970 (1965 with 5 years of credited service transferred from Clarysville) and throughout the years, provided dedicated service and leadership as both an administrative and fire line officer, including Fire Chief.
Over the years, he performed many man hours of training and service in an effort to continue the rich traditions of the FFD. OUR DEEDS OUR REWARD!
On behalf of the entire Department and the citizens of Frostburg and surrounding areas, thank you and happy 48nd!!

Please help us congratulate Tom Vogtman (9/28/71) and John Rowe (9/29/66) on their "Length of Service" anniversaries.
Both have provided dedicated service and leadership and over the years, have performed thousands of man hours of training and service in an effort to continue the rich traditions of the FFD.

IMPORTANT UPDATE ON MD’s CELL PHONE & SEAT BELT LAWS

Cell Phone Ban (TR21-1124.2)
Effective October 1, 2013, Maryland’s cell phone law now prohibits a driver from using a handheld cell phone while a motor vehicle is in motion. This is a primary offense. Law enforcement officers can stop a driver solely for using a handheld cell phone; no other offense is needed.
Drivers will receive a fine (including court costs) of up to:
▪ $83 – first offense
▪ $140 – second offense
▪ $160 – third & subsequent offenseWhy do we have this new law?
-Nationally, 80% of vehicle crashes involve some sort of driver inattention
-On average, more than 30,000 people in Maryland are injured annually as a result of distracted driving crashes.2Seat Belt Law (TR22-412.3)

Bob “Newt” Race (SEP 27, 1971) 42 years of service (Past Fire Chief)
Newt joined this great organization on this date and throughout the years, provided dedicated service and leadership as both Line and Administrative officers, including Fire Chief.
Over the years, he has performed tens of thousands of man hours of training and service in an effort to continue the rich traditions of the FFD. Newt was also a MFRI instructor for many of years. (He taught me my first 4 classes!)
