Length of Service Anniversary

Please help us congratulate Dale Bladen on his "Length of Service" anniversary. Dale joined this great organization on November 13, 2007 following many years of service with Solomon's Rescue Squad & VFD.Throughout the years he has performed many man hours of training and service in an effort to continue the rich traditions of the FFD. Dale has provided dedicated service and leadership as both an administrative and fire line side as he currently serves as an Assistant Chief.
On behalf of the entire Department and the citizens of Frostburg and surrounding areas, thank you and happy 9th anniversary.

Frostburg – The Mayor and City Council held a meeting Tuesday with R. C. Regnier, consulting engineer for Whitman, Requardt and Associates. The new 16-inch main will run from the city reservoir on Big Savage Mountain to High Street, a distance of 4,317 feet, at an estimated cost of $60,000
Alex G. Close, city clerk, stated that the city has available $40,000 from the 1947 water improvement bond issue, and $25,000 from the 1950 water improvement bond issue.
The 1947 issue was for $60,000 of which $20,000 has already been spent and the 1950 issue was for $50,000 of which $25,000 has already been spent by the water department.

Frostburg Man Dies In Blaze After Alerting Wife, Who Escapes.
House Not Equipped With Smoke AlarmsA South water Street man died in a blaze early Tuesday at his home that did not have smoke detectors, an investigation by the MD State Fire Marshal’s Office determined. The man’s wife, however, was able to escape after he alerted her to the fire.

Melvin Harris, 82, was found just inside the front door of his 161 S. Water Street home following the 5:27 a.m. blaze. Harris apparently had been sleeping on the living room sofa when he was awakened by the blaze. He was able to yell for his wife, Helen, 82, to get out, and she escaped through a side door, the fire marshal’s office said. -
