On This Day In FFD History
This photo shows the early stages of the fire that destroyed the large brick depot of the Western Maryland Railway Company (WMRC) on May 23, 1960. When firefighters arrived around 3:00 am, the center portion of the structure was in flames. Explosions wracked the building as oil, gasoline and other incendiary material burned.
Not used as a depot since the WMRC took over the C&P Railroad, it had been a warehouse for track maintenance materials.
The fire was thought to be intentionally set by intruders. According to Deputy State Fire Marshal Jess Jacobs, William Platter, a Frostburg bakery owner, was on his way to work when he saw the flames. He also stated that the doors were open.

FSU Graduates
May 20, 2016
Events
-
The best thing about FSU: having students that are interested in firefighting and serving our community. The worst thing: that inevitable day when they graduate and leave.
Unfortunately for Frostburg and the FFD, we have three student members who will be graduating tomorrow. While we are of course excited for them, it is truly a sad day.
Lieutenant Joe “Hollywood” Persichetti (Join Date, 9/11/2012); FFI/EMT Arun Pant (Join Date, 10/09/2012) and FFI/EMT Brooks “Cap” Harrison(Join Date 9/9/2014) have served our great organization with pride and distinction.
Please help us congratulate our boys and wish them the best on the next chapter of their lives.
