FROSTBURG BUSINESS BLOCK LAID WASTE BY STUBBORN BLAZE; CONEY AND CUMBERLAND FIREMEN CALLED

Seven Buildings Totaling Loss Of $150,000 Destroyed – Stiff Gale Balks Firemen Who Fought For Four Hours – Frostburg Department Handicapped, New Auto engine of Cumberland And Coney Firefighters Save Town From Devastation.

FROSTBURG, Dec. 14 – A fire, doing an estimated damage of $150,000, broke out this morning about 5 o’clock from the Shea building, this place, and before it was extinguished burned seven buildings to the ground.  The destroyed buildings were: Shea building and a double block residence and average on same lot; the building occupied as store and residence by the Frostburg Furniture Co. and a warehouse and

Length of Service Anniversary

Please help us congratulate Bill Price on his "Length of Service" anniversary. He joined this great organization on December 12, 1972 and currently serves the department as the Head Trustee and Chief Engineer.

Over the years, Bill has performed tens of thousands of man hours of training and dedicated service in an effort to continue the rich traditions of the FFD.

Retirement and Next Endeavor

Please help us congratulate former FFD member and current honorary member, Tim Diehl on his retirement (31 DEC 2013) from the Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services (HCDFRS) and on his newest endeavor with the City of Rockville.

Tim’s title with the City of Rockville will be the Supervisor of Building Code and Permits, which will also carry the title of Fire Marshal for the city.

Tim served with the Frostburg Fire Department (FFD) from 1985 to 1999 where he rose through the ranks to Assistant Fire Chief. He headed for the Howard Fire Academy in 1990, where he graduated at the top of Recruit Class 7. He was “pinned” at the graduation ceremony by FFD Senior Officers, Gary Tummino and Ron Dugan.

Tim worked the next ten years at the following stations: Station 10

Future FFD Members!

It looks like there may be a little competition in the works for future Fire Chief; even though these guys may have to wait just a few years. Wesley Matthew Hardy (Left) has his sights on being a 4th generation FFD member (Great-Grandfather, Jim McMorran; Great-Uncle, Matt McMorran and Uncle, Connor Woodring) while Jackson Rhone Riviere (Right), is hoping to fill his Father’s boots.  (Honorary FFD member, "Big Jim" Riviere)  Jim is still serving the department from Prince Frederick, MD as the FFD web master extraordinaire!
