Length of Service Anniversary

Please help us congratulate Donnie Lloyd, Jr. on his "Length of Service" anniversary.

Donnie followed in his father’s footsteps and joined this great organization on this date in 1985 and throughout the years, provided dedicated service and leadership as both a Line and Administrative officer.

Over the years, Donnie has performed tens of thousands of man hours of training and service in an effort to continue the rich traditions of the FFD.

Length of Service Anniversary

Please help us congratulate Harry Foor on his "Length of Service" anniversary.

Harry joined this great organization on this date in 1969 and throughout the years, provided dedicated service and leadership as both a Line and Administrative officer; including his current role as apparatus driver and department Chaplain. He is also playing an instrumental role as a member of the Apparatus Selection Committee (ASC) as the department is preparing to purchase a new Pumper.

Over the years, Harry has performed tens of thousands of man hours of training and service in an effort to continue the rich traditions of the FFD.

FFD In The Community

Hamilton Relay Donation

Responding to our recent request for donations for our new engine, Hamilton Relay, located at 1 Science Park, informed us that would like to help and presented the FFD with a check for $700!

Hamilton Relay has been providing telecommunications relay services for individuals who are deaf, hard of hearing, deaf-blind or have difficulty speaking since 1991.

Fifty Shades of Frostburg Donation

Last October, during FSU homecoming, the FFD was invited by Giuseppe’s owners Mark & Laura Witt, to conduct a fundraiser by serving Mac Smith’s (late owner of the Pour House) famous Blue Dart libation. The evening was a huge success.

When things were winding down and I was sitting on the “other” side of the bar, a gentlemen approached me, identified himself as Paul Reutershan, FSU alumnus and founder of the “Fifty Shades of Frostburg” Facebook group. I recognized him from my days many years ago when I was patronizing the local ‘burg water holes but that was about the extent of my recollection. And I had heard of the group but had no idea there were +8000 members.

The FFD Needs Your Help!

The FFD needs your help!

After 28 years of front line service to the citizens of Frostburg, the FFD will be retiring our 1988 fire engine. This critical piece of equipment has long since exceeded it's expected life cycle.

Constructed before the days of 3-point seatbelts or airbags, the continued use of this apparatus puts our firefighters in greater danger. Increased maintenance costs have put a burden on the department, and the fire engine's manual transmission restricts the number of operators that can drive the apparatus.

The FFD has spent the past year diligently researching and developing specifications for a new pumper to best serve the community while keeping our firefighters safe. Although this engine will be a no-frills design, modern technology and safety features

Look Before You Lock

LOOK BEFORE YOU LOCK.
Never leave a child in a parked vehicle. Even the best of parents or caregivers can forget a child in the back seat; and the end result can be injury or even death.

The temperature inside a parked vehicle can rapidly rise to a dangerous level, especially for children who are more vulnerable to heatstroke.

And yes, this includes pets!!
