Please help us congratulate Wes Foor on his "Length of Service" anniversary. Wes joined this great organization on April 11, 1978 and is celebrating 38 years of dedicated service.
Over the years, Wes has performed thousands of man hours of training and service in an effort to continue the rich traditions of the FFD. He continues his fire service with the Rawlings VFD (Co. 47) as an Assistant Chief and former Fire Chief.
On behalf of the entire Department and the citizens of Frostburg and surrounding areas, THANK YOU and happy 38th!!

Please help us congratulate Kenny Wilt on his "Length of Service" anniversary. Kenny joined this great organization on April 8, 1991 and is celebrating 25 years of dedicated service.
Over the years, Kenny has performed thousands of man hours of training and service in an effort to continue the rich traditions of the FFD. He received the "Firefighter of the Year" award in 1995 and is one of only three members to have received the "Chief's Award three times.

FROSTBURG – FIRE DESTROYS STOCK AT DAVIS STORE IN SHAFT
Fire of undetermined origin destroyed considerable stock in the store of William Davis, Shaft, at 11 o’clock this morning. The blaze started between the first and second floor. The Frostburg Fire Department responded and succeeded in extinguishing the fire before it gained much headway.

FFD Annual Yearly Banquet

The annual FFD awards banquet, celebrating the department’s 138th anniversary was held Saturday night. Attended by more than 120 people that included numerous State, County and City officials and neighboring Fire Chief’s
Great job by the banquet committee and to all that helped.
The evening’s top honor went to 2015 Fire Chief, Doug Hanson for his contributions last year. The FOY selection committee was comprised of last year’s recipient, Todd Logsdon, 2013 awardees Dale Bladen and Matt McMorran and Gary Tummino from 2012.
The Fire Chief’s award, presented by 2015 Fire Chief, Doug Hanson, was awarded to three recipients; Bill Price, Joe Hoffman and Matt McMorran.

The FFD would like to thank Shaft Volunteer Fire Department (Company 17) for standing by at FFD Price Station 1 while Frostburg members attended our annual yearly banquet. While members enjoyed their one time a year celebration, Company 17 covered the first due by running 2 separate calls. We always appreciate the help!

Thanks to our good friend and fire historian, Warren Jenkins, we have been able to identify the date and some details of this fire. Warren sent us the following Times-News article from 2004.

A little after 5:00am in March 12 1925, Frostburg Police Officer and volunteer fireman, Thomas Griffith smelled smoke. He hurried down East Main Street trying to follow the scent of burning wood. He hadn’t gone far when he saw the flames piercing the windows of Hitchins Bothers Department Store.
The store had been in business for more than half a century and employed 45 people. The first floor carried groceries, shoes and general merchandise. The second floor had clothing for men, women and children, home furnishings and floor coverings. The third
