Please help us congratulate Jim Kucharczyk and Brady Harden on their "Length of Service" anniversaries. Both joined this great organization on December 28, 1982 and 2010 respectively.
Over the years, both have performed thousands of man hours of training and dedicated service in an effort to continue the rich traditions of the FFD.

A reprint from the Cumberland Evening Times - Page 2, Monday, December 17, 1917
LOOKING FOR BETTER FIRE PROTECTION
One hundred and twenty-five citizens met at the Gladstone Hotel yesterday for the purpose of discussing the shortage of fire hose, scarcity of fire plugs and the failure of water pressure. R.A Walter presided. It developed that the town has only 450 feet of first class hose and 500 feet in fairly good condition but liable to burst at any time, while the remainder was reported absolutely worthless. Thirty more fire plugs were suggested.

With all of the fraudulent scam artists working our neighborhoods this time of year, we wanted to confirm that the FFD NEVER goes door to door seeking donations. We only conduct our annual mail out campaign, which starts this week. Residents of Frostburg and surrounding areas will be receiving a flyer, donation form and a return envelope. To those able to make a tax-deductible donation, we appreciate your support. For those who can't make a donation we understand and ask that you please keep our crews in your prayers.

Please help us congratulate Bill Price on his "Length of Service" anniversary. He joined this great organization on December 12, 1972 and currently serves the department as the Vice President and Chief Engineer.
Over the years, Bill has performed tens of thousands of man hours of training and dedicated service in an effort to continue the rich traditions of the FFD. Bill continues to be one of the main apparatus drivers and is always in the running for the annual "Most Activities" award.

ON THIS DAY IN FFD HISTORY - 2012
Firefighters from three counties, Allegany, Garrett and Mineral, WV, battled a fire at a building at 16 Broadway in Frostburg late Saturday. The building once housed the city’s magistrate court, said Mayor Robert Flanigan. Frostburg firefighter’s found heavy fire when they arrived at the scene following alert from the Allegany County 911 Center at 8:30 p.m. The fire was reported to be under control at 9:40 p.m.
A Maryland Deputy State Fire Marshal began his investigation into the blaze about 10:20 p.m., when the fire was reported out. At least two victims were taken from the scene for treatment at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center. The American Red Cross was called to assist residents who lived in the building.
