May 7, 2015 Events  No comments

Shift, a new farm-to-table restaurant in Frostburg, showcased their commitment of giving back to the community during a recent fundraising event to help purchase a new AED for the FFD. This device, used to ‘restart’ a heart after cardiac arrest, is an essential piece of lifesaving equipment.

Jes Clay, owner of Shift, is shown presenting Captain Joe Hoffman a $1,000 check, a significant portion of which was donated by Ms. Clay. FFD Public Information Officer, Matt McMorran is presenting Clare Buckle of Shift, a plaque commending the restaurant for their generous contribution and support to our volunteer department.

Thanks to Jes, Clare, and the rest of the staff at Shift!

Towards the end of last year, the FFD acquired apparatus, equipment and appliances form the former Clarysville (Co. 14) VFC. Chief Doug Hanson has officially placed both Tanker 16 and Brush 16 into service.

Shift, the newly opened “farm to table” restaurant, located at Broadway & Ormand Streets, recently contacted us and asked what they could do to support the brave men and women of the FFD. We informed them that we could really use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) for one of our trucks. They not only planned an event but a raffle to raise funds.

On Wednesday, March 11th from 4:00 – 9:00pm, Shift will feature guest chef, FFD Captain, Joe Hoffman and his almost famous, farm fresh, smoked fajitas featuring Sirloin, Beef Brisket, Trout and Portabellas. Appetizer, side dishes and dessert options will be announced.

10% of the evening’s proceeds will go towards the purchase of the AED. Additionally, Shift is selling raffle tickets ($5.00 each) through April 1st for two great
